Restorative justice encounter process

This is available as an alternate path to the EPS Complaint Procedure for cases deemed appropriate, for instance, when the matter that has come before EPS does not rise to the level of a KRI Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct for Kundalini Yoga Teachers or Code of Ethics for a Sikh Dharma Minister violation and/or when all affected parties request and agree that Restorative Justice (RJ) is their preferred method of resolving the matter at-hand.

What is Restorative Justice:

Restorative justice involves individuals in conflict coming together to communicate and explore their impact on each other and collaboratively determine steps to address and mend the harm caused. At their core, restorative practices are about strengthening individual and community relationships to create a sense of belonging and provide a system of communal accountability that sets the stage for repairing harm that may arise from behavior. It is an opportunity for the responsible party to change behavior.

Moving through the Restorative Justice Encounter Process:

The RJ Encounter Process aims to maximize the input and participation of the individuals in conflict and involves an opportunity to go through three stages:

  • Encounter: pre-dialogue
  • Repair: restorative justice dialogue/circle
  • Transform: implementation of resolution/agreements

Through offering Restorative Justice Encounters as an additional alternative pathway, EPS provides healing and resolution in situations and communities where this approach will be most effective.

The EPS Global Ethics Committee has 5 sitting members who are trained RJ facilitators.

Restorative Justice matters and all other matters for EPS should be submitted here.
