3.7.1 Answers & Discussion – My Way or Your Way?

B is Correct. If students are taught and understand the meaning, origin, and benefits of a mantra they may be more inclined to participate, and also know that it’s fine if they choose to meditate silently.

A: Incorrect. This could be true, as some other yoga systems do not include chanting, except perhaps by the teacher, and focus more on physical postures and breath. Some students may be happier in that environment. But as explained in answer A, it’s better when they can make an informed choice about whether or how to participate.

C: Incorrect. We want to give students accurate and truthful information. This answer is incorrect because a façade created by withholding information in order to make Kundalini Yoga look more attractive to some is, well, a façade, and not a true representation. This is also called “lying by omission.”

D: Incorrect. This could be true but is really a judgment call. We don’t know how Anna might actually be biased (or not), but the statement was certainly dismissive.
